St. Mary of the Visitation Parish – Cambridge, ON.
Construction Method: Design – Build Completion Date: September 2010 Gross Floor Area: 1,766 sq.ft.
Scope of Project:
St. Mary’s is a mid 19th century stone Roman Catholic church that Schiedel Construction has worked with since the 1980’s renovating interior spaces and maintaining the historical architecture. In 2010 Schiedel constructed a key addition for the church connecting the main sanctuary to the adjacent parish centre building. The project also included a new face lift to the exterior of the church and parish centre with: two new canopy entrances and new stucco facade that complement the historic beauty of the church. The parish centre addition features a grand cathedral ceiling room with three large windows that allow plenty of natural light into the space and also portray the image of a crucifix. The interior of the parish centre was totally updated with a functional kitchen, accessible washrooms, and a meeting room with a stone fireplace as the focal point. There is a high level of craftsmanship visible throughout the church with rich dark stained oak trim and doors. The recent addition and renovation to the church and parish centre really speaks volume to the phrase, “if you build it, they will come.” Over the past five years St. Mary’s has increased its number of parishioners by 15%.
